Dear artist Nis Jessen 

In my 19 or so years of collecting Sherlockiana

I don't think I've ever encountered a more beautiful Sherlockian book!

I don't make statements like that easily, but this book is

 simply, and without overstating the case, drop-dead gorgeous.

Jessen has managed something like 600 illustrations in a sort of sepia

wash that appear on every single page of STUD and the publisher

has put it all together into the most incredible package.

The samples and descriptions on the publisher's site

do not do this lovely book justice.

While I have numerous beautifully designed slip-cased limited edition

small press publications in other fields of interest.

Gets my very highest recommendation on all counts.

I love the book already and it even smells great!!

I would suggest that this book be part of anyone's Sherlockian library.

You are going to love this book, no bones about it.

I've been practically fondling the blessed thing since I pulled it from my mailbox.

I really can't even begin to put into words how impressed I am.

The thing is huge too at 14 inches in height and 10 inches in width.

What a great present to get on the day after the 125th anniversary of the Battle of Maiwand!!
Right, back to fondling ;-)
